Thanks to all of you who have donated money or raffle items, committed to attend, and offered help in various ways. I am looking forward to next weekend. Reconnecting with a bunch of inaugural PATCOMmers, and meeting new folks as well will be a very good thing.
Coastal PATCOM will be held March 2,3, and 4 on Kleberg County Beach, Padre Island, Texas. Come to Corpus Christi and take highway 358 east to Padre Island. At the intersection of 358 and 361, continue straight through the stop light on Park Road 22. Go through the next light at Whitecap Blvd. A couple miles after this intersection you will see Padre Balli Park on the left. Pass the main entrance, then turn left on Gulf Beach Access Road 6 about 1/4 mile later. Turn right on the beach, and continue south for a couple miles until you see my truck and my colors:
I will be on the beach Friday March 2, around 9:00 A.M.
Driving conditions on the beach should be very good. Recent “bull tide” and rain will have the sand packed down pretty good. I will make a scouting trip next week and post the results. Conditions weren’t bad on my last scouting trip, and have only improved since then no doubt, so it should be smooth sailing.
My truck will be sans toolbox though, I need all the room in the bed I can get to load up all the stuff I’m bringing along, and to make room for the truck tent which will be my humble abode for the weekend. My New Braunfels smoker, two ice chests, bug out boxes (camp gear), and fire wood will pretty much fill the bed, while the cab will be stuffed with my gear and raffle items.

Bill Nye will be there, and Texas Bugman (who smoked all that awesome meat for PATCOM 2012, and maybe his sidekick Roger) who will be coming down in the “roach coach”. So will Dio. Plus Rusty and his pal Rufus the Wonder Dog. Some local folks will be there as well. Can’t wait to see them all again, and meet new folks. It’s gonna be good. See y’all next week!

Still time for others to make the trip to the coast for the weekend. The few hours behind the wheel will soon be forgotten, but guarantee the memories and friends you’ll meet will be long lasting.
