Coastal PATCOM

Posted: February 19, 2012 in Uncategorized

Coastal PATCOM will be held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; March 2, 3 and 4, on Kleberg County Beach, Padre Island, Texas. I’m trying to finalize the details, and would really appreciate it if you would answer the poll on the sidebar if you plan to attend. Bill, Chris, Rusty (and Rufus), James, Donna and Hubby, Greg and friends, I know y’all have confirmed. Y’all “maybes” either shit or get off the pot. Anyone else who plans on coming, or cruising by for a lookey-see (you will stop in, believe me) please click on the poll and let us know. I can see you local lurkers on my stat counter, so hit the poll. If you don’t, but come anyway; bring your own damn food then. Hate to be blunt, but them’s the breaks. Limited resources and all. Don’t cry if you didn’t say you’re coming and there’s nothing to eat for you. This is the real world, and if you can’t handle that, well then…

I am going to get a bunch of black drum fillets, shrimp, and maybe oysters if I can find some locally. And a side dish, maybe grilled veggies (quick and easy) for dinners Friday and Saturday. Greg has offered BBQ as well. So sing out or miss the train, ‘cuz I’m going shopping next week.

hell make a big pot of pasta with canned sauce or beans with bacon

add a few cans of dog food for flavor and ketchup to disguise taste

    feed this to freddy freeloaders

then tell them about the dog food

    great entertainment will then erupt

    • In the surf there could be trout, redfish, whiting, pompano, bluefish, and small (or BIG) sharks this time of year. Berkley Gulps (newpenny color “shrimp” or “sand eels” work great) and Fishbites are good baits for trout/reds/whiting/pompano. Texas Tackle Factory eels are good (brighter colors). “Swimming shad” lures should be good. If calm seas, even topwater lures can be great in the surf, like Top Dogs and She Dogs. Color doesn’t really matter much, but I prefer white/silver belly/dark top. Live/dead/cut bait rigs are good as well. Three way leaders for surf weight and hook. A 4′ piece of 1 1/2″ PVC pipe cut at a 45 degree angle on one end makes a good surf rod holder for live/dead bait fishing. I’ll be bringing a bunch of tackle myself, which you will be welcome to if something in particular is the bait of the day…

Hey Craig, I just saw a TV news report on KRGV-TV (Weslaco TX) about some jellyfish / Man-O-Wars washing up on South Padre Island. I don’t know if they’ve ‘invaded’ yet (or will even make an appearance), but you keep an eye peeled out, just in case.
